Old Dubai vs. Ultra Luxury – Martial Arts Practice & Iron King Method

October 27, 2023 by VAHVA Fitness

A window to our daily training with our striking coach and training according to Iron King Method. Exploring the two sides of Dubai: the old and the new.

This time, we decided to explore the two sides of Dubai. People generally think Dubai is only this modern city with no history but that's not in fact true.

There exist preserved fortresses from the 19th century and areas that are well over 50 years old. Dubai used to be a fishing village.

Not only this, a city called Sharjah is right next to Dubai and it's one of the oldest cities in the world with a history of over 5000 years.

Many outsiders don't understand Arabic culture so well and think every city is supposed to be these traditional sand houses. In reality, modern skyscrapers are an aspect of the modern Arabic culture.

If you go to Doha (Qatar), Abu Dhabi (UAE) or Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), they are also filled with modern buildings and skyscrapers so it's not only a Dubai thing.

Generally speaking, these gulf countries do a lot of things very well. These cities are some of the safest and cleanest cities in the world and they aren't as strict as people think but you need to be respectful to the local culture and people.

Just 30 years ago there was almost nothing in Dubai and today it's one of the hottest cities in the world and one of the most popular tourist attractions.

What inspires us specifically is that they are truly trying to do something big and extraordinary. They have no limits in their thinking. They have truly ambitious projects.

When someone says: "No, that's not possible, it cannot be done" – they will try it and prove that person wrong. It's like you are literally living in Star Wars or in the future sometimes.

In this new vlog, we also stayed in one of the new buildings in Dubai called Atlantis the Royal which they call "ultra-luxury". We can tell you that it's hard to find more luxurious places than this even in Dubai.

The pictures and videos don't do justice to this place – architecturally it's one of the most impressive modern buildings I have ever seen and I have seen some beautiful architecture in London, Singapore and Shanghai.

However, the vast majority of Dubai is nothing like this. Just like in every big city, there exist different areas for different income levels.

Dubai is a home for over 3.5M people and over 90% of the population are expats. Contrary to the common belief, Dubai is not only "the home for the rich". In reality most people are regular people similar to any other city.

I think it's important to approach every culture and everyone with kindness and an open mind. Unless you actually visit or live in a place, it's impossible to know the reality of it.

We have found lots of good people in Dubai and there exist great communities for martial arts, MMA, sports, yoga, sound healing and biohacking just to name a few. Of course all religions are also present.

This was a vlog to showcase this beautiful city that has been good for us. We are starting to have a great team around us – our kickboxing coach Stas is world class and our striking is getting better rapidly.

We regularly spar with professional Muay Thai fighters and we can tell you it's not easy! For the past 3+ months, we have also been working with the former UFC fighter Nordine Taleb and our progress has been unbelievable. More on this later.

We also have a great podcast studio here and have been able to do more podcasts this year. This is an area we didn't do much before. The feedback has been positive and we are getting better at conveying our message.

Public speaking is not an easy thing and takes time to master. You can expect the podcasts only to get better as time goes by.

Just a couple of months ago we also released our newest program called Iron King Method – a program that covers new methods that have been the most impactful in our personal physical development since many years.

The future looks bright and we are excited to share more with you. We are actually already ready to have kickboxing or Muay Thai fights – just need to find opponents and a good time.

It has been a great challenge to fit everything into our schedule because everything takes time and energy, but we are very close to making waves...

Stay strong.
