Grandmaster Jiang Yu Shan answers an interesting question from a member of our Warrior Neigong community.

We recently had a lengthy Q&A session with grandmaster Jiang Yu Shan related to life, qigong, kung fu and anything inside the Qigong courses we have created with him.

All these questions were from the members of our Warrior Neigong community and people asked some very interesting ones. The full Q&A is for members only.

Here's one answer, and it's about Fighting Qigong and how to balance it with "water" so it doesn't only become an energizing practice.

Originally, Fighting Qigong such as Lohan Gong was created to prepare the warrior monks for combat and high performance, and this is what it does amazingly well: increasing the testosterone, vitality and energy in the body and building an impenetrable mind.

The grandmaster's answer is very fitting. Not everything has to be balanced all the time, and it's a good idea to take 12, 30 or even 100-day cycles to do fighting qigong in order to increase the vitality of the body.

Even if you are not interested in fighting or you don't have anything big on the horizon, these methods do wonders for boosting your vitality, especially after 40 years of age.

Fighting Qigong in general is one of the most interesting things we have learned from the grandmaster, because it's so rare and misunderstood in Qigong in the West.

Very similar to Fighting Qigong, there are also the 2 forms of Taiwan's Five Ancestors Fist which we just released a couple of days ago.

The first form is a breathing form (Three Battle Steps) and the second form is considered a "bodybuilding" form (Twenty Fists).

With these forms and techniques you can obtain similar benefits to Fighting Qigong. Increasing the energy, vitality, testosterone and "fire" in the body is almost inevitable.

You will also develop punching power through relaxation and stability and develop the entire trunk of the body thanks to the maximum rotation. You learn the high level principles such as rooting where you learn to grip the ground with your complete leg musculature.

You will also learn the fundamental ability to coordinate between split seconds of looseness and tension...

In the third form called Hitting The Four Corners, you perform a form that was originally done with a sword and a shield. But here you do it empty handed and it still works incredibly well.

You see, in the ancient times, even empty handed combat used to mimic warfare with swords and shields. These strikes include slashing strikes and blocks but they're done with your arm and fist.

This form is more acrobatic and faster, but nothing too difficult for beginners to learn.

In conclusion, you will learn all the foundational principles and countless techniques to perform like a powerful martial artist. Most importantly, you will build the breathing apparatus and the physique to BE a powerful martial artist.

Five Ancestors Fist is over 400 years old and a mix of 5 different ancient styles so that's why it's one of the best foundational styles to know and master, and perfect for both beginners and masters alike.

You can learn more about it here.

Stay strong.
