7 animal movement drills you can perform on a straight line. Just a straight line can add creativity to your training!
There's an infinite amount of creativity you can add to your movement training. Inside Movement 20XX, we call this the "Variability Method".
And it's just not for fun — it has massive benefits when it comes to developing your body.
If you always stick to the same variation, it means the same areas and muscle fibers get activated and developed.
Adding variety to your training, you will target different parts of the muscles, different functions of the joints and thus develop a lot more well-rounded and versatile athletic ability.
Of course, it's a lot of fun as well because it means the training never gets dull. Every restriction or change in your environment or how the movement is performed can add new layers and depth to your training.
Lack space? It's great — work on moving with spacial restrictions! Got lots of space? Move more openly and freely. Just limit your movement to a narrow line? Here are good ideas for you...
1. Monkey Hop — Use the monkey walk to jump from one side to another working on your quadrupedal speed and agility.
2. Cat Rush — Another phenomenal quadrupedal movement that is more coordinated and works even more on your shoulders and core.
3. Beast Jump — Develop dynamic ability to bounce working on your triceps, chest and shoulders.
4. Cross Step Crawl — The real core killer and a great way to train rotational strength and stability!
5. Crab Tack — The best for stretching your shoulders, training the core and developing your triceps.
6. Zigzag Lizard — One of the most intense pressing movements anyone can perform. This is a very advanced crawl. The fundamentals of the crawl are covered inside Movement 20XX Method.
7. Duck Walk — A great movement for lower body strength and mobility. More advanced which is why the 6-7 are "bonus movements" in this video.
I hope you enjoyed the movements. If you are completely new to this, I recommend checking out Movement 20XX Method. It covers everything from strength, mobility, flexibility to coordination and skill.
Stay strong!
